Free for New Mexico Disabled Vets

New Mexico offers disabled vets free admission to museums and parks.

Partly disabled veterans in New Mexico will be eligible for free admission to state parks, museums and monuments starting July 1, 2007.

In the United States, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson has just signed a bill extending free admission privileges to more of New Mexico's disabled veterans.

New Mexico veterans with 100 percent disability are already entitled to:

The new discounts, which come into force on July 1, 2007 under bill House Bill 210, include for all veterans who are 50 percent disabled or more,

On Veterans' Day, all New Mexico veterans, active duty military personnel, their spouses and dependent children receive free admission to the State Parks, museums and monuments.

To claim the benefit on the basis of disability, proof of disability is required. This can be the official certification letter from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Information about the various State Parks in New Mexico is listed by park. By reading the Park Brochure for the park you are interested in, you can determine whether there are wheelchair accessible washrooms and other accessible facilities.
